Dresden Zoo

The Dresden Zoo, opened in 1861, is situated in the Großer Garten Park. From April to October there are regular performances of a Zoo-Punch (Tuesday – Thursday 10.45, 11.30 a.m. and 2.00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 11.00, 12.00 a.m. and 1.00, 2.00, 3.00 p.m.). Feeding times for penguins are 9.30 a.m. and 3.00 p.m., for elephants 12.00 a.m., and for the greedy lions 1.00 and 3.00 p.m.

Park Railway

During a half-hour round trip on the 15 inch (381 mm) wide and 5,6 kilometres long rails of the miniature park railway you can discover large sections of the Großer Garten Park in an open or roofed passenger coach or just relax, and leave the daily stress behind you and take a break from everyday life. Exceptional is that train operation is done by children and teenagers in their spare time.

Volkswagen VW – Transparent Factory

In the Transparent Factory Dresden the VW E-Golf is actually produced. There are guided tours possible in the factory from Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 07.00 p.m. also Saturday 9.00 a.m. - 6 p.m. Reservations for that reason can be made in the Visitor Service Center.

Karl May (1842 - 1912) is numbered for more than one hundred years among the most widely read adventure writers in the world. Karl May, the creator of unforgettable novel heroes such as the brave and noble Apache chief called Winnetou and Old Shatterhand, his brother, is one of the best-selling and famos German writers of all time with about 200 million copies in more than 45 languages worldwide. From many of his novels movies were made, they were adapted for stage, radio plays were produced or they were converted into comics. The Karl May Museum gives information about his cult sites: Villa “Shatterhand” (May’s house and last residence), and “Villa Baerenfett” (a picturesque log-cabin in proper Indian style). From its in Europe unique collection the museum displays about 850 fascinating items showing the life and culture of the Indians of North America.

The Deutsches Hygiene-Museum

If you want to visit a museum with children, you should go to the Deutsche Hygiene-Museum with its adventure area for kids! You will find an in Europe unique modern universal museum, made by man for men and especially for children. Visitors aged 4 to 12 will find exciting adventure areas around the five human senses there. At weekends there are offers for guided family tours around the permanent exhibition.

Puppet Theatre Collection

Fairy tales and storys underneath the dome of the Jenidze

Labyrinth - Paradise for Kids in the Sächsische Schweiz

The labyrinth in Bielatal is a short hiking trail through the Saxon Switzerland. Approximately 3 km away from Königstein, in the district of Leupoldishain starts the circular route Nikolsdorfer walls (Nikolsdorfer Wände). This is a rugged rock world, which will take place between Nikolsdorf and the Labyrinth. The rocks of the labyrinth are only a few meters high. Through the narrow ways between the rocks, dark tunnels and small caves, the path marked especially for children to a variety of adventure tour. The climb up to the plateau is possible.


As early as 1977, Franz Gruss created his first dinosaur model out of plaster and concrete on his property. When up to 25 dinosaurs romped about in his garden later, public interest in this unique ensemble of primeval creatures also increased. Today the Dinosaur park is an big attraction for the hole family and also our guests in the vacation rentals in Dresden downtown.
The theme park is conveniently located between Dresden and Görlitz on the A4 Autobahn.
